Germany in Crisis as Young Men Consider Violence Against Women Acceptable. According to a research, one-third of young males in Germany believe violence against women is “acceptable.”
According to a new survey, one-third of young males in Germany believe it is acceptable to use violence against women, causing alarm among gender equality activists. Plan International Germany, a children’s charity, commissioned the survey. Its findings were reported in the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, a regional newspaper.

A total of 1,000 men and 1,000 women aged 18-35 from across Germany were asked to participate in the study, which was conducted online. 34% of men in that age group admitted to using violence against their female partners in the past in order to “instill respect in them.”
33% agreed that it was appropriate if their “hand slipped” every now and then during an argument with their companion.
The survey, which looked at views toward victim-blaming and double standards, discovered that 50% of males indicated they would not desire a relationship with a woman who had had many sexual partners, whereas 20% of women interviewed agreed with this statement.
The survey also discovered that men and women have very different expectations in a relationship.
Just over half of males, 52%, desired a relationship in the form of a “breadwinner-housewife model,” in which they earned the majority of the household income and childcare and household responsibilities were predominantly the woman’s responsibility.
Over two-thirds of the women polled disagreed, expressing a desire for equal partnerships and shared decision-making. Just under half of respondents (48%), indicated a disdain for public displays of homosexuality Displays of homosexuality, with people claiming to be “disturbed” by them.
