Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna state has called the Federal Government’s proposed cash transfer programme a hoax.
Sani mentioned this on Friday during an appearance with Arise Television’s News Night.

“My position has always been that, at this critical time, cash transfer should not be something that we should bring up completely,” the governor stated.
“For me, I believe that cash transfers are a swindle. It is completely a fraud. I am confident in this since I know to whom you are transferring the funds.”

President Bola Tinubu had previously announced his administration’s proposal to provide a monthly N8,000 transfer to 12 million of the country’s poorest households for six months in order to mitigate the consequences of the subsidy removal.
However, days after the announcement, the Federal Government stated that it will reconsider the measure in light of the widespread outcry it sparked among Nigerians.

Remember that the National Executive Council (NEC) agreed on palliative measures for Nigerians following the termination of the petrol subsidy and the recent increase in petrol prices to up to N617/litre.
The NEC also discussed integrity testing on state social registers, and financial transfers would be done through state social registers subject to state differences.
