Gunmen kidnapped 9 passengers and killed 2, in Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway, Imo axis. They robbed the rest of their goods and beat them to a pulp.
The victims, from Amangwo Olokoro in Umuahia, Abia State’s capital, were believed to be on their way to Enugu for a burial on when they were ambushed by the gunmen.

One of the victims, who identified himself only as Francis, described their horror in Umuahia on Sunday, saying his Sienna Bus was flagged down at gunpoint near the Arondizuogu junction on the road.
According to Francis, the vehicle was later diverted off the road to Arondizuogu Road in Imo State, where they were escorted into the bush.
I’ve never had anything like this before in my life, he remarked. We were driving to Enugu for a burial when we came to the Arondizuogu crossroads and were requested to park by a group of heavily armed guys.
They brought the driver out, and barely three steps away from us, they shot him dead.
Another man with us who witnessed what happened and attempted to flee was also killed.
He revealed that the gunmen snatched the two bodies, and that there were at least 50 hoodlums in their hideout, with 20 of them severely armed.

And the funniest part was that these men were speaking our language, he remarked.
A senior police officer at the Abia State Police Command, on the other hand, claimed to be aware of the occurrence but stated that “formal entry” had not yet been made. ” I am aware of the Saturday attack, but you are aware that it occurred in Imo.”
