Nollywood actress, Kemi Lala Akindoju, is the latest celebrity to join singer Simi’s #Noonelikewoman challenge, and she’s expressing how she’s been chastised in society for letting her son to bear a Yoruba name rather than an Itsekiri name, which is her husband’s tribe.
Lala claimed that she and her husband had been questioned multiple times about the situation, with people asking why her husband let it, given that the act is disrespectful to the man and should not be done.

Many people would be amazed at how the “culture custodians and patriarchy lords” think, she said, emphasizing that her child will keep her husband’s last name and that she went through a lot to give birth to their child.
Akindoju is a native of Ondo State. She had her secondary education at Queens College, Lagos. After obtaining her West African Examinations Council examination, she proceeded to study insurance at University of Lagos. She also received a master’s degree from Pan-Atlantic University, studying media and communication.
The actress, who won an Africa Magic trailbrailzer award for her role in the film adaptation of Dazzling Mirage, married Chef Fregz in September 2018 and had their son in February 2021.
