The Italian Serie A was suspended on March 9, after Prime Minister Guiseppe Conte banned events with large gatherings such as sporting activities in order to curtail the widespread of the Coronavirus pandemic across the country. After a long time away from footballing activities, Serie A is now scheduled to resume on June 13, 2020.

On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, Lega Serie A confirmed June 13 as the scheduled date for resuming the 2019/2020 season after a videoconferencing meeting was held by The League’s General Assembly.

The announcement came after the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), accepted a request to adjust the League’s medical protocols to work more like that of the government. This adjustment means an entire team would be placed in a 14-day quarantine if any of each team’s player tests positive for Covid-19.
