Over the weekend, the exam authority accused Ejikeme Mmesoma of manually inflating her score from 249 to 362 and claiming to be the top scorer in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

This development elicited numerous reactions from netizens, who expressed their disgust with how JAMB is handling the situation.

Social media went into uproar upon the announcement. Here are some of the reactions.

Toluwani feels the prohibition is politically motivated in order to bring the school system into disrepute.

“Ejikeme Mmesoma JAMB issues are political in nature.” They seek to discredit Anambra’s educational system in order to discredit Peter Obi’s work. The APC is a nasty party that should be avoided.

A user named Nefertiti Lite questioned why the DSS was involved in the allegation given that it was not about national security.

“Even DSS officials were invited to question 16-year-old Ejikeme Mmesoma about ALLEGED result forgery?” Is she now a threat to national security? She’d have you believe she developed a nuclear bomb in her backyard.

Uko argues that instead of banning Mmesoma, JAMB should have scheduled another exam for her to justify her results, he stated.

“In my perspective, the JAMB prohibition is hasty. If you believe the girl fabricated the results and received so much score, why not schedule another exam for her to take and see if she can match the same score? What is the point of a premature decision and public ridicule?”

Jeremiah argues that instead of the ban, JAMB should have given the student a chance to prove herself, he added.
