Kenyans have been spiteful and angry towards the government and economy of the country. Fatal protests has erupted around the country, over tax increases and rising living costs.

At least three people were reportedly killed in this week’s wave of protests, which also saw hundreds arrested, businesses attacked, and schools closed.

The UN is’very worried’ about extensive police violence during protests in Kenya.

During last week’s rallies, the UN reported that up to 23 people were murdered in conflicts between police and protestors, while the administration disputes this figure.

Despite the violence, the administration has remained tough, with President William Ruto declaring that protests will be prohibited because he “cannot accept anarchy.”

Kenyans are enraged over the government’s approval of unpopular tax increases.

Despite a court decision to temporarily suspend the implementation of several provisions of the measure, the government hiked taxes on petroleum products, raising the cost of transportation and essentials.

Many Kenyans, according to veteran political analyst Herman Manyora, feel let down by President Ruto, who campaigned on prioritising the poor and improving their livelihoods.
