The next series of events will include Madison undergoing medical tests, as well as the preparation and signing of documents.

According to reports, it is understood that the opening fee fell within the region of £40 million. Summing the amount with add-ons took the deal up to £45 million.

Relegated Leicester have been resigned to losing Maddison, who was identified as Spurs’ top target.

They appear ready to see off interest from Newcastle in the 26-year-old. Madison, who made a total of 32 appearances last season made 19 goal contributions.

Despite the terrible form of Leicester, who were met with a relegation on the last day of the Premier League, Maddison enjoyed a strong campaign that led to him earning an invitation to England’s World Cup squad.

Madison, who happens to the the most consistent performer on the Championship side, has a single year separating him from the end of his contract term.

And it appears the club deems £40 million a worthy price for him.

Madison looks set to boost the resources of new boss Ange Postecoglou, who took up the position after leaving Celtic.

Maddison’s former teammate in Leicester, Harvey Barnes, may be joining him in the North London.

Arsenal and West Ham has also shown interest in Barnes and could be waiting for the right time in the transfer window to lodge bids.

In the meantime, he just has to wait until Leicester determines a fair price for him and decide his fate.
