Currently, there are speculations about Liverpool’s intention to lodge an unexpected bid for Mount.
Mason Mount, 24, has a year to stay at Stamford Bridge before the expiration of his contract, but it is anticipated that Chelsea will accept a bid on him this summer instead of letting him leave as a free agent.
However, Chelsea has turned down three bids for the England international from Man UTD.
This has led to rumors that United may let the deal slip or offer no higher than £50 million plus the add-ons sum of £5 million.
This has possibly paved the way for Liverpool to consider hijacking the deal that seemed imminent at some point.
Klopp’s comments may have a weakening effect on Manchester United’s bargaining position as he has admitted that Mount is worth more than all three offers they have made thus far.
It is widely believed that Chelsea is holding its position for a minimum of £65 million before they let Mount depart but may have concerns about United’s dampened interest.
They could be faced with fears of having the 24-year-old England player leave on free transfer by next summer if clubs didn’t meet their demands.
According to reports, Mauricio Pochttino, Chelsea’s incoming boss, has spoken with Mount, who assured him that he will maintain professionalism and show up for pre-season training if his fate had not been decided by then.
Mount is expected to be present with Chelsea at a pre-season tour in the United States by next month if he’s still at Stamford Bridge at the time.
While everyone is looking at Man UTD, moves are expected of Liverpool since the club is in dire need of new additions.
The club had already transferred Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner at the end of last season, meaning its midfield urgently needs serious reinforcement.
