Manchester United has made a significant decision ahead of their US pre-season tour by excluding goalkeeper Matej Kovar from the squad.
The exclusion comes amid growing interest from Sparta Prague, who are keen to have the shot-stopper back in their ranks for the upcoming season.

In preparation for the tour, United has chosen to bring along four other goalkeepers: Tom Heaton, Dean Henderson, Radek Vitek, and Nathan Bishop.
Furthermore, they anticipate the arrival of Andre Onana, who is set to join his new teammates following his recent transfer from Inter.
Despite Kovar’s impressive performances during the pre-season matches, including a notable victory over Leeds and a 1-0 win against Lyon, it seems likely that he will be loaned out again from Old Trafford this summer.
This decision aligns with the vision of United boss Erik ten Hag, who is eager to revamp the goalkeeping department at the club.
United’s goalkeeping situation has been in flux, with Dean Henderson poised to join Nottingham Forest in a deal worth up to £25 million, pending any incoming transfers.
Additionally, David De Gea has already confirmed his departure from Old Trafford earlier in the month.
The departure of Jack Butland to Rangers and potential interest from Luton Town in Tom Heaton further highlight the need for a resolution regarding Kovar’s future.
Sparta Prague’s Sporting Director, Tomas Rosicky, has expressed their interest in bringing Kovar back to the Czech club.
However, Rosicky emphasized that they cannot wait indefinitely for a response from United and will pursue other goalkeeper targets if Kovar doesn’t return.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper showcased his skills last season during a successful loan spell at Sparta, where he made 32 appearances.
He has also represented the Czech Republic up to Under-21 level and is renowned for his ability to play comfortably with the ball at his feet, aiding in playing out from the back.
Aside from the Kovar situation, United has reportedly shown interest in signing Japan international goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Urawa Reds.
Additionally, 19-year-old Videk, another Czech goalkeeper, is set to be part of the club’s pre-season tour. Meanwhile, Bishop is expected to depart Old Trafford on a loan deal.
Strengthening the goalkeeping department has emerged as a top priority for United this summer, following the acquisition of Mason Mount from Chelsea.
Furthermore, the club is determined to secure a new No.9, with Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund being their preferred target.
