Protesters in some parts of the country barricaded major roads, demanding the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari as the country marks its 61st independence day anniversary.
In Abuja, protesters gathered at the Dantata Bridge on the popular Airport Road in Abuja, demanding the resignation of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari.
The protesters, wielding large banners, made bonfires on the highway. The protesters have later fired tear gas canisters and gave them a hot chase by the Nigerian Police.
While in Lagos, the protesters demonstrated in Ojota.
As of 11 am, the protesters had converged on the ground and are presently at the scene chanting and displaying banners and placards that read, ‘Buhari Must Go’ on a day that should have been celebrated as the country’s Independence day.

Some police officers are stationed at the protest site, warning protesters to disperse and walk away.
The protesters chanted, “Who go tire? I no go tire”, “The suffering is enough”, “That’s how they killed Olajide Sowore, enough is enough”.
