NDF Issues Tinubu A Two-Week Deadline For Boko Haram Amnesty

NDF, has issued President Bola Ahmed Tinubu  a two-week deadline to provide amnesty to Boko Haram members in the North-East.

The Northern Development Forum (NDF), a pan-north organisation, gave Tinubu’s administration a deadline to provide amnesty to bandits in the north in order to create national inclusion.

The group, which based its requests on the “prosperous life now being lived by ex-agitators in the Niger Delta,” warned that if its demands are not granted, it will be unable to ensure peace in the north.

The NDF claimed in a press statement issued by its spokesperson, Sheriff Abubakar, that the only way the north can be safe from Boko Haram and bandits is for the Tinubu administration to extend amnesty to the rebels similar to what the late Umar Musa Yar ‘Adua did upon taking power in 2009 for Niger-Delta agitators.

The group also asserted that for the past 15 years and counting, the Niger-Delta insurgents have received unparalleled support from the Nigerian government, leaving them in abject poverty and misery in the North.

It outlined its demands for Boko Haram and bandits, which included a declaration of amnesty, scholarships, capacity building, and the establishment of a cooperative programme.

“Dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we are writing you today as concerned citizens and advocates for justice and unity in our great nation,” the statement read.

“Recent events have highlighted the critical necessity for Northern insurgents known as Boko Haram to be granted amnesty.”
