Igwe MacAnthony Okonkwo of Alor community who was one of the 12 traditional rulers in Anambra State has pleaded for forgiveness from Governor Willie Obiano after 48 hours following their suspension. The Nation reports that the monarch was quoted to have confessed his sins, asking the governor for forgiveness.

It was also gathered that Igwe Okonkwo of Idemili South local government area of Anambra State openly apologized to Gov. Obiano and the traditional rulers’ council for violating certain guidelines against the operation of monarchs in the state.
According to reports, other monarchs insisted the governor has no right to meddle in their fundamental rights in any way as custodians of the traditions and the people.
Obiano had on Friday, August 14, slammed suspension on the 12 monarchs for visiting President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja. Okonkwo of Alor was among the 12 traditional rulers suspended for one year by Obiano for embarking on the journey to Abuja with Prince Arthur Eze, an international oil magnate.
Reacting at the weekend during a press conference in his palace, the Alor monarch admitted his mistakes and tendered an “unreserved apology” to Obiano. “It was a serious slip on my part not to have informed the government about the trip to Abuja before embarking on it. I, therefore, tender an unreserved apology,” he said.
Okonkwo also denied the rumor that he was induced with money and gifts before agreeing to accompany Prince Eze to see President Buhari in Abuja.

He, however, said that the money he was counting was meant for his aides’ upkeep and wondered how a person of his status who successfully made money long before becoming a king would be accused of taking bribes from anyone.
