It is a gloomy Saturday morning for President Muhammadu Buhari as he mourns the death of his nephew Alhaji Mutari Dauda. Garba Shehu who is the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity confirmed the death on Friday, May 8th.

The late Alhaji Dauda was the youngest brother to Mallam Mamman Dauda. Mamman was considered as one of the influential beings in the Buhari government between the years 1984 and 1985.
Garba Shehu released a statement to the media and said: “President Muhammadu Buhari has consoled the members of his extended family and Daura community at large”. The President then issued a statement that reads as follows:
“Let me on behalf of myself and my family convey to you my deepest sympathy for the loss of Mutari Dauda. Death is inevitable and every soul must taste death one day. What we owe the death are not tears, because our tears cannot bring them back, but what they deserve is our prayers.
“In this regard, my heart and prayers go out to all the family members and the Daura community as a whole over this irreparable loss. May Allah forgive his gentle soul and reward his good deeds with aljanna.”

All Progressive Congress National Leader, Asiwaju Bola has also extended his condolences to the President and the Daura family. In a statement issued by his Media Office Bola said, “I would like to commiserate with President Muhammadu Buhari over the passing yesterday of his nephew Alhaji Mutari Dauda.”
Alhaji’s cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
