Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has instructed that members of the state executive council and his aides should subject themselves a compulsory COVID-19 test as part of measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

As learned yesterday, the instruction which was stated in an internal memo also includes all civil servants working within the state Government House and the office of the deputy governor, Kingsley Otuaro.
According to the report, several aides to the governor including close security details recently tested positive for the coronavirus.
According to The Nation report, the memo which was issued by the Governor was aimed at ensuring that the state Government House is completely free of the deadly coronavirus.
We also learned that all units, including media aides, were directed to go for the COVID-19 test immediately, although reports show that many of the state commissioners and political appointees are uncomfortable with the directives.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, his wife Edith, and daughter, Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Chiedu Ebie and the commissioner for information, Mr. Charles Anaigwu, have all tested positive for the coronavirus.
