Peter Obi Tags Tinubu's Large Convoy "Ridiculous"

Peter Obi sets a good example by knocking Tinubu over his 120 large convoy. He urged Nigerian leaders at all levels to set a good example and not make ridiculous purchases.

The demand came against the backdrop of Nigerians’ fury over Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s “outlandish display of power” during a recent visit to Lagos State.

Mr Diran Onifade, Head of Obi-Datti Media Office, stated in a statement Thursday night that Tinubu was escorted by an unprecedented 120-vehicle convoy during his visit.

Peter Obi claims that no politician has ever displayed such stupid and shameful exhibitionism since the British established Nigeria. Not even the military, which is famed for its brazen and unfettered exhibition of raw naked power, dared to be that reckless.

Responding to an inquiry on the development on Thursday afternoon in Awka, Anambra State’s capital, Obi stated that he had yet to see video evidence of Tinubu’s 120-vehicle convoy, but that leaders in Nigeria must set an example.

In today’s Nigeria, all those who serve and lead must lead by example, he said. Their behavior and public conduct must be consistent with what the society requires today.

We cannot continue to preach sacrifice to the people without also sacrificing. Because the people are suffering, and we must now be at the forefront of the suffering, the sacrifice must now begin with the leaders, publicly and measurably at all times, Peter Obi stated.

According to Onifade, the Obi-Datti Media, along with millions of Nigerians whose sense of decency has been affronted by Tinubu’s unfettered penchant to flaunt power and position, has joined the presidential contender in pointing out the hypocrisy inherent in Tinubu’s behaviour.

“For a man who promised to reduce the cost of governance to be moving around with an over-bloated convoy of security details and aides speaks volumes of his ‘do what I say, not what I do’ attitude,” he added.
