The former Governor of Anambra state and running mate of former Presidential aspirant of the People Democratic Party in the 2019 election, His Excellency Peter Obi expressed his support to President Buhari for the uplifting of COVID-19 syrup popularly known as COVID-organics from Madagascar.
While expressing his full support toward the importation of the syrup, he stated that government should provide a medium for local inventions in Nigeria. He is of the opinion that this will boost the confidence of the country research team and inventors.

The Statesman show of support came at a period when the country is having an increase in the rate of COVID-19 affected persons. As at today, Nigeria has recorded a total 4641 with 150 deaths, 902 recoveries and 3589 active cases.
Peter Obi tweeted thus; “I firmly support the authorisation of President Muhammadu Buhari for importation and subjection of the Madagascar COVID-19 Syrup to standard validation process for pharmaceuticals, and possibly for use in the cure of this virus.”

“Similar authorisation and encouragement should be given to local inventions. This will save us scarce forex and will give confidence to domestic researchers and inventors,” he wrote on Twitter.
Moreover, the government has greatly increased its measures in mitigating the spread of the virus in the country by providing each state with more isolation centers and boost the pay of medical personnel’s working tirelessly to eradicate the virus in Nigeria.
