The search was conducted at a residence in Henderson, a Las Vegas neighbourhood where Shakur was assassinated in September 1996.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department did not disclose any other information about the search, citing the continuing investigation into his murder.
Shakur was 25 years old when he was slain. There have been no arrests, and no suspects are currently in custody.
The searched home is less than 20 miles (32 kilometres) from the Las Vegas strip, where Shakur was shot in a drive-by shooting.
“The LVMPD can confirm that a search warrant was served in Henderson, Nevada on July 17, 2023, as part of the ongoing Tupac Shakur homicide investigation,” according to a statement from Las Vegas police.
“We will have no further comment at this time.”
Detectives were working on the cold case again, according to Las Vegas Police Lt Jason Johansson of the Las Vegas Review Journal.
“It’s a case that’s gone unsolved, and hopefully one day we can change that,” he told the media.
Shakur, whose stage name was stylized as 2Pac, launched his debut album in 1991 and went on to achieve chart success with singles such as California Love, All Eyez on Me, Changes, and I Ain’t Mad at Cha.
