President Bola Tinubu’s request to select 20 special advisers has been granted by the Senate. Tinubu’s plea was read aloud on the Senate floor on Tuesday by Senate President Ahmad Lawan.

The names of the potential special advisers were not disclosed by the president. Following the reading of the letter, the request was granted expeditiously by the higher parliamentary body. The Senate President stated that having a team to work with is of “utmost importance.”

Because there are no names for special advisers, we will just approve it from here,” Lawan explained. We believe that this is a matter of extreme urgency.”

The news comes just days after President Tinubu announced the appointment of Femi Gbajabiamila, the outgoing House Speaker. Tinubu announced the selection of Femi Gbajabiamila, the outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives, as his chief of staff just days before.

Former Special Duties Minister George Akume has been appointed Secretary to the Federation’s Government (SGF). Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Jigawa state deputy governor, was named deputy chief of staff.

This was announced in a statement signed on Friday by Abiodun Oladunjoye, the State House Director of Information, headed President Tinubu appoints Gbajabiamila COS, Sen. Ibrahim Hadejia, DCOS, and George Akume, SGF.’

In a meeting with the Progressives Governors Forum, the President also named former Governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation,” according to the statement.

The new role of Gbajabiamila has been confirmed, putting an end to weeks of conjecture. Accepting the position, he thanked Tinubu for “finding me worthy of being your Chief of Staff” and promised to give his all when he takes office on June 14.

Having spent the last 20 years in the Nigerian Parliament, and after winning my sixth term in the National Assembly, I will work with Mr. President to complete the enormous task ahead of him for the federal republic of Nigeria’s peace and progress.”

As stated in Mr. President’s official letter, I will give my all when I take office on June 14, 2023,” Gbajabiamila added.
