Rasmus Hojlund Arrives Old Trafford: Deal Almost Done

Manchester United is on the verge of securing their third signing of the summer as Rasmus Hojlund arrives at Manchester Airport.

This brings his £72 million move to Old Trafford closer to completion.

The 20-year-old Danish forward touched down in England at approximately 4:15 pm on Tuesday after United reached an agreement with Atalanta over the weekend.

Although Hojlund was an unused substitute in Atalanta’s pre-season win against Bournemouth on Saturday, both clubs were cautious not to risk any potential injury before the big-money transfer.

Following his arrival, Hojlund is scheduled to undergo a medical examination before finalizing a five-year contract, which includes an option for an additional 12 months at Old Trafford.

The initial transfer fee is expected to be around £64 million, with the possibility of an extra £8 million in performance-related add-ons to be paid to Atalanta.

This signing brings an end to Manchester United’s summer-long search for a new center forward.

Previously linked with a move for Tottenham’s Harry Kane, the Red Devils shifted their focus to Hojlund, who impressed with 10 goals in 34 appearances for Atalanta last season.

Hojlund’s arrival will join Mason Mount and Andre Onana as United’s new additions this summer, pushing their total spending above £150 million.

While initial reports reaching SurgeZirc NG suggested that manager Erik ten Hag had a £120 million budget for new signings, the Glazers and the United hierarchy have provided additional funds.

The deal is expected to be finalized a few days after Luke Shaw expressed his desire for the club to secure a new striker.

“We’ve already signed some very good players and hopefully there’s more additions to come to strengthen the squad,” the left-back said on Monday.

Shaw acknowledged the ongoing Hojlund deal but refrained from commenting further, considering that the Danish forward is not officially a United player yet.

While the team currently has Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho who can play in attacking roles, Shaw emphasized the need for an out-and-out striker, which the club is eager to acquire.

He expressed confidence that the club’s management and players are aligned in their desire for a top-quality striker to bolster the squad.
