Rivers State branch of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused the state’s immediate former governor, Nyesom Wike, of terrorizing the state for the past eight years.

Darlington Nwauju, the party’s Publicity Secretary, stated that Wike cannot join the party because of the terror he instilled in it for eight years.

He described Wike as an enemy and hence would not be permitted to join the party.

The terror unleashed on our party members in the cause of his eight years of maximum rulership in Rivers State alone is enough evidence to confirm that Wike has no business with Rivers State APC,” the statement says in part.

Asking him to come and take over is asking an adversary to come and finish off his victims.

We are aware of his schemes to avoid justice for looting the collective patrimony of Rivers people, which is the main reason for his romancing top officials.

Darlington Nwauju, the party’s current Publicity Secretary, highlighted that Wike’s activities as Governor of Rivers State made him an adversary of the party, prohibiting him from joining.

Nwauju claimed in a statement made on Monday that the terror perpetrated on party members during Wike’s reign clearly proves that he has no place within the Rivers State APC.

Wike openly campaigned for President Bola Tinubu, an APC member, in the previous presidential election.

Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had backed Tinubu over his party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

In response to Wike’s pledge to ensure Tinubu’s win, Tony Okocha, an APC chieftain and former Chief of Staff at the Rivers State Government House, stated that Wike is entitled to the repercussions of his conduct in securing Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.

Okocha accepted Wike’s right to join any party, but urged him to join the APC immediately in order to reap the advantages of his efforts in supporting Tinubu’s candidacy.

Okocha’s demands include handing over the party’s share of the benefits Wike earned for his backing of Tinubu, as well as claiming that Wike knows who worked for whom.
