A Federal High Court in Abuja has proclaimed the banishment of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi from Kano as Emir and intense movement to Awe in Nasarawa State as unlawful and an infringement of his principal human rights.

Conveying her judgment, Justice Anwuli Chikere held that the way Sanusi was powerfully taken out from the castle in March 2020 after his ousting and taken by security agents on the mandate of the Kano State government to Nasarawa State against his will was a horrible infringement of his rights to individual freedom and freedom of movement.

The adjudicator, who proclaimed as a nullity, the Emirate Council Law 2019 under which the Kano State government professed to have acted, held that as a resident of Nigeria, who has submitted no offense, Sanusi was entitled to dwell in any piece of the country.

Equity Chikere awarded N10 milion harms against the Kano State Government, the Inspector General of Police and the Department of State Services.

In the court administering, she additionally requested them to delicate open acknowledgment to Sanusi in at minimum, two national dailies.

Albeit the Attorney Genera of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), was joined as the fourth respondent in the case of Sanusi, Justice Chikere excluded the AGF from the suit because the candidate failed to build up his case against him.
