Senate has confirmed the Ministerial appointment of one of the nominees, former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.
The Nigerian Senate gave Nyesom Wike the traditional ‘take-a-bow’ permission for a cabinet job as the 10th Assembly began evaluating nominations forwarded to it by President Bola Tinubu.

Wike, who was the first of the nominees to be reviewed on Monday, had the quickest passage, as MPs rushed to pass him.
Following Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s necessary opening remarks, which mostly attested to Wike’s competency and capacity to deliver in office, the Red Chamber cleared him by requesting him to take a bow for a ministerial job.
Wike told the Senate that President Tinubu will not be sorry for nominating him to serve as a minister in his cabinet.
Wike informed the Senators that as Governor of Rivers State from May 2015 to May 2023, he initiated and completed numerous projects to strengthen the state’s infrastructure, and that he invited lawmakers from all parties to commission them.
“These things can be accomplished if you are committed and passionate about your job,” Wike told the MPs.
“There are many people who want to be ministers because ‘I was a governor,’ or ‘I was a minister,’ but there are those who say, ‘Look, what do I have to offer?'” ‘Am I serious about this job?’
“I am grateful to Mr. President for nominating me.”
