Senate President Akpabio makes his first group of appointment. He confirmed the nomination of Chief Barrister Sylvester Okonkwo as his Chief of Staff (CoS) on Monday.
Akpabio also authorized the appointment of Saviour Enyiekere, a native of Akwa Ibom State’s Ika Local Government Area, as his Deputy Chief of Staff.

According to a statement provided by the Senate President’s Media Office, Chief Okonkwo attended Denns Memorial Grammar School Onitsha and is also a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Enugu campus, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Law. B.L. (LL.B. Hons.)
He is from Ojoto in Anambra State’s Idemili South LGA, in Nigeria’s South East area. He has over two decades of experience as a corporate lawyer and astute politician. In 2019, he ran for senator on the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Prior to his appointment, Okonkwo was the CEO of Chinto Technologies Limited, a company that specializes in ICT and telecommunications.
He is happily married to Chief (Barr) Mrs. Chidiebele Okonkwo LL.B, (Hons.) B.L, and they have three children.
The announcement says of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Enyiekere, he is an alumnus of the University of Calabar and the Deputy Director General of Senate President Godswill Akpabio Senatorial Campaign Organization.
He is a former two-term Executive Chairman of Ika LGA and a former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State.

Former Board Member, Akwa Ibom State Road Maintenance Agency, former student leader, and former Senatorial Aspirant, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, on Boundaries and Conflict Resolution.
He is a member of the Nigerian Environmental Society, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria, and a Professional Fellow of the Nigerian Emergency Crisis, Risk, and Safety Management Institute.
