The talented mother of one reminisced about their collaboration on the love song titled “Running To You,” which was released in 2021.
Simi revealed that she was instantly drawn to Chike’s voice and the emotions he conveyed through his singing. She further explained that Chike had initially reached out to her with the song, as he already had a version of it on his album.
“I actually love Chike’s voice so much. There is so much emotion his voice carries,” Simi exclaimed during the interview. “When he wanted to do the song, I don’t even think I was around.
He sent it to me. He already had a version of the song on his album, but I hadn’t heard the album at the time. And when I heard the version he sent, I was like, ‘This is so beautiful.'”
Simi expressed her enthusiasm for being a part of the collaboration and highlighted Chike’s gratefulness throughout the process. Despite having worked on various features in the past, Simi emphasized that Chike stood out with his genuine appreciation for her contribution.
His gratitude resonated with her, and she admitted that she found his attitude refreshing and endearing.
“He [Chike] was just very appreciative. He kept showing how appreciative he is, and I really liked that,” Simi confessed with a smile. Her statement showcased the bond and mutual respect they shared as artists.
