The five-time Ballon d’Or winner flew on a private jet with his family from the Portuguese island of Madeira and is expected to spend two weeks in quarantine.

Cristiano Ronaldo, 35, played Juventus’s last Serie A game, a 2-0 win over Inter Milan behind closed doors at the Allianz Stadium on March 8 while the coronavirus was on rampage, before the Italian football season was called to a halt by a more severe outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic which has claimed over 29,000 lives in the country.

Cristiano Ronaldo landed in Madeira after the Inter Milan game so as to take care of his mother Dolores who was down with a stroke.

Ronaldo’s club Juventus have recalled their 10 overseas players as Serie A clubs were allowed to reopen training on Monday.

The Italian interior ministry’s go-ahead for players to return to club training facilities two weeks ahead of schedule has offered fans hope that the 2019-20 season might yet be salvaged.

Juventus are leading Serie A, one point ahead of Lazio, as they eye a ninth consecutive Scudetto. Although, the club hasn’t announced an official date for a return to training as yet.

To guarantee the safety of players, Juventus started testing their players at the club’s medical center in Turin on Monday.
