Four people were sentenced to death by hanging on Monday in a State High Court in Ekiti after being convicted of a murder crime. The convicts include two men and two women by the names Abdulrasheed Mutairu, Iyoriochile Eromonia, Rashidat Abdul, and Oluwatosin Akarakiri respectively.

They gruesomely murdered a 70 years old man, Oloyede Samuel, in Odo Owa Ekiti a town under Ijero local government on the 15th of April 2020.
It was gathered that the deceased run a brothel which serves as his means of livelihood after retirement from active service and the same brothel is home to the four accused persons.
The convicts made their first court appearance on February 12 but pleaded not guilty after the charge was read but Justice Abodundade informed that the prosecution was able to prove a case of murder against the convicts beyond a reasonable doubt by providing enough evidence.
Justice Abodunade stated that:
“I am persuaded that in the instant case, the prosecution has proved the ingredients of murder beyond a reasonable doubt by convincing and compelling qualitative unbroken circumstantial evidence and I so hold”.

“The sentence of the court upon the four accused persons is that you be hanged by the neck until you be dead and may God have mercy on your souls.”
More findings revealed that misunderstanding over a sharing formula occurred between the deceased and the accused persons which led to the killing of late Oloyede Samuel.
