Popular media personality, Toke Makinwa, has advised people to quit giving advice to their friends on social media.

In a series of tweets, Toke Makinwa indicated that she does not expect her friends to do opinion polls or give her advice on social media if she is embroiled in a scandal.

She stated that friends openly airing their ideas about her life is foul, and that they should instead call her. Toke also mentioned that this generation is preoccupied with social media and has lost any sense of boundaries.

Toke Makinwa is known for hosting The Morning Drive on Rhythm 93.7 FM and for her YouTube vlog series Toke Moments. She released her book On Becoming in November 2016. She is one of the top 5 African female show hosts.

In 2013 she won the Nigeria Broadcasters Award for Outstanding Female Presenter of the Year. She was nominated for ‘Radio OAP of the Year’ in the Nigeria Entertainment Awards. The same year, she became an ambassador of the United Africa Company of Nigeria.

Makinwa has hosted numerous notable events, including the 2013 Future and City People Awards, as well as the 2014 Headies Awards. In March 2021 it was officially announced that Toke Makinwa was paired with Nollywood actress, Nancy Isime to host the third season of The Voice Nigeria.
