Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba Nation agitator, has been held in detention pending a further inquiry by the Court D’Appal of Cotonou.

The court, on the other hand, rejected Igboho’s extradition to Nigeria. The court, which was set to begin hearing the case at 10:00 a.m., prevented reporters and Igboho supporters from entering the building. The hearing began around 5:00 p.m.

According to the Daily Trust, supporters of Igboho were dispersed from the court’s premises later that evening, raising fears that he may be deported to Nigeria.

Nigeria’s government accused Igboho of arms trafficking, inciting violence to disrupt public order, and advocating for secession. It further demanded that he be extradited to Nigeria.

Igboho and his wife, Ropo, were arrested last Monday at Cotonou’s Cardinal Bernardin International Airport while attempting to board a flight to Germany.
On Thursday, the court released Ropo, a German citizen, while the self-styled agitator was held in the custody of Brigade Criminelle in Cotonou.

The Department of State Services put Igboho on the wanted list on July 1 after raiding his Soka mansion in Ibadan and killing two of his aides.  In an update, it has been revealed that the court has further ordered that Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho), be transferred to another detention facility.

This is after the activist’s lawyers complained that his fundamental human rights were being abused.
