Tinubu must halt governors’ move to take over APC national secretariat, NWC member Salihu Lukman, national vice chairman (North West) of the APC, has urged the President.
Lukman, who was the immediate past Director General of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), made the request in a statement headed “APC and the Question of Party Building,” which he delivered to journalists in Abuja over the weekend.

Lukman’s reprimand came on the heels of speculation that the PGF, led by Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma, was planning to replace Senator Abdullahi Adamu with former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Senators Abdullahi Adamu and Iyiola Omisore resigned as national chairman and national secretary of the ruling party, respectively, on Monday, while Deputy National Chairman (North) Senator Abubakar Kyari took over as acting national chairman.
Multiple sources confirmed that President Tinubu supports the APC governors’ decision to make the former Kano State governor the party’s national chairman.
He further stated that because the job of national chairman was already designated to the North Central, stakeholders in the party should ensure that a replacement for the sacked Senator Adamu came from the same region.
Lukman stated that rather than the APC Governors deciding who gets what at the party’s national secretariat, proper process must be permitted in the nomination of Senator Adamu’s replacement.

A situation in which President Asiwaju Tinubu and Progressive Governors are accused of deciding on Dr. Ganduje as the next National Chairman of the APC without consulting other power blocs in the party or meeting any of the party’s organs, including the NWC, is extremely risky and potentially damaging to President Asiwaju Tinubu and the party.
It would only be reasonable if this is coupled with a President having a military experience.
