Having shown glimpses of his talent during his loan spell at Fulham last season, Solomon is considered a player with high potential, despite Tottenham’s absence from European competitions and their reduced playing schedule of one match per week.
However, controversy surrounds the deal due to a recent FIFA ruling that allows foreign nationals playing for Ukrainian clubs to terminate their contracts amid the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
While Tottenham has followed the necessary procedures, Shakhtar Donetsk, Solomon’s former club, is displeased with the transfer.
The signing has generated mixed opinions, with some feeling uneasy about the circumstances.
Tottenham is set to face Shakhtar in a friendly match next month, which aims to support the Ukrainian club’s charity.
Shakhtar’s CEO has expressed a desire for a more satisfactory resolution, likely involving financial compensation.
Nonetheless, Solomon is unaffected by the controversy and is joining a Tottenham team that is undergoing a transformation under manager Ange Postecoglou, focusing on becoming a leaner, younger, and more attacking side.
