Moments after Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company would be rebranded as “Meta,” Twitter users mostly responded with the first syllable of the name: “meh.”

Zuckerberg stated that the name “Facebook” no longer encompasses “everything we do,” as the company now includes Instagram, Messenger, its Quest VR headset, and other products.

“Today we are seen as a social media company. But in our DNA we are a company that builds technology to connect people,” Zuckerberg said, according to AP news.

Because the announcement came after documents were leaked revealing how Facebook ignored internal reports and warnings about the harms its social network caused or magnified around the world, many Twitter users responded by shrugging or engaging in the snark.
