Obinna Iyiegbu, alias Obi Cubana, a Nigerian billionaire, has broken his silence just hours after being released from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s custody.

Obi Cubana was detained for money laundering by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday, November 1, 2021.

The Anambra-born club owner was probed by EFCC operatives when he arrived at the commission’s offices in Jabi, Abuja, at midday on Monday.

According to an EFCC source, Obi Cubana’s case involves alleged money laundering and tax fraud. Since then, many Nigerians and acquaintances of the socialite have expressed their displeasure with his arrest.

Obi Cubana was however released on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021, after being grilled for several hours.

He shared a photo of himself after being released from EFCC custody, thanking everyone who had reached out to him and saying he is unbroken.

Obi Cubana told BBC Pidgin that he began his career as an estate agent and earned his first N1 million from a house furnishing deal.

He now controls vast investments in entertainment, showbiz, hospitality, and real estate, among other things.
