Wike, Atiku, Okowa, and Tambuwal refused to attend the PDP reconciliation meeting, this left other party members feeling disappointed.
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar; his vice, former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa; former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike; and former Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal, who were invited to a meeting to kick start a reconciliation process after the 2023 election on Tuesday, were all absent.

Speaking during the gathering, to which 183 members were invited, the National Organising Secretary (NOS), Umar Bature, stated that the party’s leadership had carefully and deliberately planned for the meeting in order to alleviate any pressure or tension inside the party as a result of the aftermath of the 2023 elections.
He pointed out that the gathering was not a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC). This party believes Atiku Abubakar won the election, but we are in court, and we will set it aside regardless of what the court decides.
Let me clarify that this is not a NEC meeting, but rather an interactive discussion to kickstart the reconciliation process.
Permit me to preview our performance in the last election. We have 342 members in the state House of Assemblies. The House of Representatives has 116 members. We have 36 senators and 13 governors in the Senate.
We are confident that the ongoing tribunal cases in Kaduna, Nasarawa, Ogun, and Sokoto states will be favorable to us, he stated.
We’re here today, and everyone is aware of what happened in 2023. We made both individual and group contributions.
Everyone had a part to play. You can accuse anyone here of supporting or opposing the party. The goal is that by the end, we will have a better understanding of what to do with the party before moving on to other organs such as the national caucus and the NEC to determine the party’s future direction. I feel the party has hope since our membership is still quite strong.
Concerning the suspension, the NOS stated, we cannot suspend a member who faulted, as this would raise eyebrows in the public. We are aware of the difficulties because we went to Port Harcourt, and I am confident that Wike will appear here and he’ll explain why we traveled to Port Harcourt.
This meeting will give us the opportunity to review the outcome of the last general elections and to share ideas about how to strengthen the party to face the challenges ahead, said Amb. Umar Damagum, the party’s National Acting Chairman.
This meeting will be an interactive session, and I want us to remember that while making our contributions, we should keep in mind that we are one family. We are one family, and we will remain such.

Senator Adolphus Wabara, Acting Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BOT), stated that the court will restore the party’s stolen mandate.
The meeting came to a close without the apprance of the G5 members, including Wike himself, this brought disappointment to the hearts of all.
