Wike must serve in Tinubu’s government, Fayose declares. He also stated, that the President should award the G5 of PDP for participating in his electoral win.

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose believes President Bola Tinubu should thank members of the G5 or Integrity Group inside the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for their participation in his win in the February 25, 2023 presidential election.

Fayose remarked on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics that ex-Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike had what it takes to be a minister and “must serve” in Tinubu’s administration.

He stated that the G5 has no intention of defecting from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), but that the PDP leadership must first put its house in order.

“The oldest is Samuel Ortom, the former governor of Benue.” The G5 consists of four former PDP governors — Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Samuel Ortom (Benue), and Nyesom Wike (Rivers) — and one current governor, Seyi Makinde (Oyo).

‘Asiwaju Needs A Man Like Wike,’ says one.

Fayose responded to the likelihood of Wike joining Tinubu’s cabinet, saying, “What’s wrong with that? How does that harm anyone? I don’t want to be a minister, but what is their headache if Tinubu says, ‘Fayose, you will be a minister,’ and I agree?”

If Asiwaju considers him or any of the G5 worthy, please serve in his place. I will be disappointed if Asiwaju does not recognise them for what they stand for. He must do his duty.

Nyesom is still young and vibrant, he can’t refute that I’m his senior brother. He is a valuable asset to Nigeria. He is not afraid to face obstacles. Asiwaju requires someone like Wike.

Tinubu, who took office as Nigeria’s President on May 29, 2023, has 60 days to assemble his cabinet, and there have been rumours that he will include opposition figures such as Nyesom and the flag bearer of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso.
