The Deputy Governor of the Ondo State, Mr Agboola Ajayi has officially joined Zenith Labour Party (ZLP). He announced this on Friday, August 14, 2020, in Akure when he was formally welcomed by the chairman of the party, Mr Joseph Akinlaja.
Recall that the deputy governor recently announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declared that he will be joining the ZLP. His resignation came in less than a month after losing the governorship elections to the former commissioner for justice and attorney-general of the state, Eyitayo Jegede.

Ajayi stated that he moved to his current party to achieve his political goal. “I do not depend on anybody. We depend on God, I will not shame you. We own this state together, I have come to join ZLP to give hope to the hopeless, to change the narrative and I have come with all my supporters,” said the deputy governor.

Furthermore, he commended his supporters to secure their votes for the October 10 elections. The deputy governor said he was grateful for the request to service by the people of the state and critical stakeholders as he intends to save it from Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
Additionally, the chairman of the party urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fair and peaceful election to avoid fierceness.
