The Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the President of African Development Bank (AFDB), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina on his re-election for a second term in office.
It would be recalled that Adesina has been recently re-elected as the AFDB President, however, he would begin his new term of another five years on September 1, 2020. Buhari’s congratulatory message was disclosed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina on Thursday in Abuja.

He revealed that the President received the news during the Council of State meeting by the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha. President Buhari led a round of applause, and declared: “He deserves it.”
According to the adviser, the president extended gratitude on the Africa Union for its commendation of the AFDB President much earlier, and to shareholders of the bank who worked tirelessly to make certain that the dedicated leader was re-elected for his second term in office.

Buhari advised Adesina to remain dedicated and persistent in chasing the noble objectives of making life better for Africans through different development strategies, already captured as High 5s.
While assuring full support of his government to ensure an effective term for AFDB leadership, the President pleaded to God to continue to give Adesina and his team strength to continue with the good work in the continent.
