The Federal Government has approved the reopening of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camps.
Recall that the NYSC suspended the camps nationwide, and stopped the deployment of corp members in March as part of the country’s measures to curb the spread of the global pandemic known as COVID-19.

However, the Presidential Task Force (PTF) urged the NYSC to start preparing for the resumption of its full activities in August, since the Federal Government has started easing many restrictions put in place to control the coronavirus outbreak.
In a media briefing at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja, the National Coordinator of the PTF on COVID-19, Dr. Sani Aliyu announced that the task force was in the process of emerging “strict guidelines” to anticipate the outbreak of infections when the NYSC camps reopened.

“The NYSC is to consolidate on safety measures currently being put in place and start preparing for the reopening of orientation camps when educational institutions open. We are in the process of developing strict guidelines to ensure there is no outbreak of COVID-19 when this process starts,” he said.
