Today, Sony will launch its latest PlayStation 5 beta, which will be featuring exciting additions and improvements
The beta includes support for Dolby Atmos, which will enhance the 3D Audio implementation in PS5 games when used with compatible sound bars, TVs, or home theater systems.

Media apps like Netflix will also be able to update their apps to support Dolby Atmos audio on the PS5.
Another significant enhancement is the increase in expandable M.2 SSD storage support.
Sony’s PS5 currently supports up to 4TB of expandable storage, but with the beta, this limit is doubled to 8TB.
While users will still need an M.2 SSD that meets the required minimum specifications, the increased storage capacity offers more options for PS5 owners.
In addition, the software update also brings several UI improvements and quality of life changes.
Users can now mute the PS5 beep sound that accompanies turning the console on or off and when it enters rest mode.
There’s also an option to adjust the beep volume. Additionally, Sony has introduced haptic feedback for the DualSense controller while navigating the PS5 user interface.
Haptics will be triggered when moving focus from one section to another and when reaching the end of a scrollable section.
An accessibility feature that comes with this release will allow users to assign a second controller to one account, making it an assist controller.
This feature can be helpful for children or friends who may need assistance in games or navigating the PS5 UI. Sony is also enhancing the PS5’s social aspects.
Players can now invite others to a closed party without adding them to a group and send open or closed party invites to groups, not just individual friends.
Similar to Discord, users can preview someone sharing their screen before joining a party, and the friends tab will display which friends are currently in parties.
The addition of emoji reactions for messages adds a fun and expressive element to communication.
