Musk had taken to his account on the famous micro blogging platform on Saturday to showcase a breathtaking aerial view of the company at night.

On the post, which he captioned “Our HQ in San Francisco tonight”, the towering building that served as the headquarters of the famous social media platform was shown in a video taken from an aerial viewpoint.

The building carried a large letter ‘X’ that glowed from the LED lighting wired into it.

Musk had also shared a video of the building an hour earlier, but this time, it was taken from inside a car.

The new logo’s installation on the historic building has stirred controversy, overshadowing the initial excitement surrounding it.

The city of San Francisco launched an investigation upon discovering that the giant ‘X’ sign was put up without obtaining the necessary permits.

The Department of Building Inspection clarified that any alterations to the building’s exterior require permits to preserve its historical integrity and ensure safe installation.

According to a spokesperson, “Any replacement letters or symbols would require a permit to ensure consistency with the historic nature of the building and to make sure additions are safely attached to the sign”.

The logo change was announced earlier by Elon Musk, which led to the installation of the LED sign board.

Interestingly, the appearance of the signboard followed an incident where San Francisco police intervened, preventing workers from removing the brand’s iconic bird and logo due to safety concerns for pedestrians.

The removal was halted as the sidewalk had not been cordoned off properly.
