Former Imo Governor Emeka Ihedioha Accused Of N19 Billion Fraud

According to the findings on the report, The Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs (BLGCA) and the Local Government Join Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC) are said to have been involved.

Senator Hope Uzodinna who was declared the winner of the Imo State governorship elections has accused the former governor of the Imo State, Chief Emeka Ihedioha of fraudulently transferring up to N19.63 billion from 27 local government area accounts.

An audit report which had been conducted by the Auditor General of Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs revealed that the during the seven months that Chief Emeka Ihedioha served in office a number of payment were not executed, these payments include the contracts of purchase of earthmoving equipment and others.

According to the findings on the report, The Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs (BLGCA) and the Local Government Join Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC) are said to have been involved.

This comes after reports on Sunday stated that the former secretary of the Imo State Government, Mr Uche Onyeagucha disputed the claims made by Uzodinna that his former predecessor Ihedioha has appropriated N800 million for the renovation of the governor’s office.

According to Thisdaylive.com, the allegations were further disputed by the former SSG in a statement titled Uzodinma lied about his 100 days in office. The former SSG stated that Uzodinmas’s allegations towards Ihedioha are invalid and the claim is “a sham and smacks of ignorance “, he then further added that the Ihedioha administration met the IGR at N250 million and scaled it up to N1.187 billion as at December 2019.

In April the Imo state government had accused Ihedioha of using the 7 months in office to expand his mansion. The claims were made Uzodinma who had mentioned that he had to slash the N800 million provided in Ihediohas’s 2020 budget.
