Coach Gernot Rohr has promised to deliver Nations Cup glory for Nigeria as he renews his contract as Head Coach of the Nigeria Men’s Football team. He vows to guide Nigeria to a fourth Africa Cup of Nations victory.

Rohr recently renewed his contract with Nigeria after agreeing to a pay cut in the local currency, and the request to stay in the country.

While on local television on Monday, Gernot Rohr said: “This is a special job because this is my team. I built it with my staff. It is still a very young team, and the mission is not finished yet, so we want to continue.”

“We all have to make sacrifices and I have offered to be the first,” he added.

Furthermore, Rohr said that it is his aim to make Nigeria Champions of Africa again.

It is rumored by officials that Rohr will earn $49,000 a month instead of the $55,000 stated in his previous contract, and he will reside in Nigeria for at least 10months every year until his contract expires.

Rohr led Nigeria to a third-place finish at last edition of the African Cup of Nations held in Egypt, where they lost narrowly to Algeria by two-goal to one after Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez converted a last-minute free-kick.

Nigeria currently tops her qualifying group for the 2021 Nations Cup to be held in Cameroun with six points from two games after defeating the Benin Republic and Lesotho.
