Former Heavyweight Champion, Floyd Mayweather has offered to pay for the funeral services of George Floyd who died in Minneapolis under police custody.

Former Heavyweight Champion, Floyd Mayweather has offered to pay for the funeral services of George Floyd who died in Minneapolis under police custody.

George Floyd died last week after a policeman knelt on the 46-year old man’s neck for minutes. Floyd who was in cuffs became lifeless after about three minutes. The death has triggered civil unrest all across the states of America.

CEO of Mayweather Promotions, Leonard Ellerbe, confirmed to ESPN that George Floyd’s family have accepted Mayweather’s offer to pay for the funeral of the deceased.

He said: “Mayweather will definitely get mad at me for saying this, but yes he is definitely paying for the funeral.”

“Over the last 20years, Floyd has done these kinds of things,” Ellerbe added.

Mayweather would be paying for George Floyd’s funeral services in Houston, his hometown, and Charlotte.

Before the funeral, George Floyd’s family plans to hold memorial services in Minneapolis and North Carolina on Thursday and Saturday respectively.

An official post-mortem released last Monday showed that George Floyd died in a homicide through neck compression.

The Police officer responsible for George Floyd’s death has been charged with third-degree murder, and one count of negligent manslaughter.
