Starting in 2021, Google allowed users to set their working location for specific days of the week, but that’s about to improve a bit.
Now, the company is introducing a new feature that allows users to specify their working location for specific portions of the day.

This functionality is particularly useful for individuals who work from multiple locations, such as their home, office, or other specific buildings.
For example, a person can note in their calendar that they’ll be working from home in the morning and in the office in the afternoon.
This feature makes it easier for coworkers to know colleagues’ whereabouts at any given time, whether they need to contact them or schedule a meeting, whether in-person or virtual.
The feature is rolling out today, and users can set their working location by selecting the “Working Location” option as an event type in their calendar and choosing a specific location.
Users can also modify the date, time, or recurrence by clicking on the time element.
This feature is available for users on various tiers, including Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Fundamentals, Education Standard, Education Plus, the Teaching and Learning Upgrade, and Nonprofits.
This is in addition to the new accessibility and learning features Google introduced last week Tuesday at the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) expo.
These features included an expanded reading mode, the ability to pair with a sign language interpreter in Google Meet, and AI-powered question suggestions in a class setting.
Google has been incorporating AI-powered tools into its consumer products such as Search, Gmail, and Sheets.
With these features, the company is bringing AI-powered questions to assignments that revolve around YouTube videos.
Teachers can add their own questions or modify the AI-powered suggestions.
Currently, Google is accepting applications to try out this feature in English, with support for Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, and Malay.
