Instagram is releasing several updates to Reels, including a redesigned editing tool. Meta says the new editor, which is available worldwide on iOS and Android, combines video clips, audio, stickers, and text into a single, more streamlined screen.
“This makes it easier to align and time elements of your reel to the right moments in a more visual way,” Meta wrote on her blog. Additional editing tools are on the way, as the company attempts to chip away at TikTok’s dominance.

Reels creators looking to go viral and grow their Instagram audiences will be able to check out the top audio and hashtags on what Meta refers to as a “trends destination.”
The dashboard provides access to the tab. You’ll be able to see how many times a song has been used by others and either add it to your own reel or save it for later.
This should assist creators in determining what is popular in Reels at any given time so that they can capitalize on trends. TikTok creators can easily determine what’s trending in that app, so this appears to be an important update for Instagram.
In a related development, Instagram is improving the Reels insights page to provide creators with a more in-depth understanding of how their videos are performing.
Beyond view counts, you’ll be able to see total watch time and average watch time to get a better understanding of how viewers interact with each reel.
If it appears that the majority of viewers are leaving a video at a certain point, creators can learn what their audience isn’t interested in seeing and make changes to their future reels. You’ll also receive notifications showing who started following you from a specific reel.

Meanwhile, in the coming weeks, Instagram will roll out the gift monetization feature to more countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Mexico, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
Additionally, creators will be able to see who tipped them with a gift, allowing them to thank generous fans.
