Chairman of the PTF on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, raised a concern on Tuesday over the alarming rate of the wrong use of face masks by Nigerians. The secretary informed that sharing facemask is unhealthy in our society.

The Chairman disclose in his opening speech at the daily media briefing in Abuja that some people do not only share facemasks but also went about picking disposable masks at thrash sites for recycling and reselling.
He further informed that this habit will put the entire population at risk of increasing the rate of COVID-19 virus infection as the individual picker and buyer are both capable of spreading the virus.
Boss Mustapha said:
“The PTF has become aware of the on-going practice of sharing masks and picking of masks for recycling from dumpsites. This places a lot of responsibilities on all of us to be self-educated and to educate others.”
In addition, the Chairman warned extensively that it is highly risky to share face mask from thrash sites looking at how contagious the virus is and how dangerous it will be for vulnerable people.

Finally, the Chairman encourages that people with any underlying ailment and elderly shouldn’t desist from using their facemask, coverings, and avoid crowded areas at all times.
