Liverpool looks set to clinch her first Premier League title in 30years at a neutral venue as part of a request from police.

The 2019/2020 season is set to restart on June 17 after a long break due to the Coronavirus pandemic, with the remaining fixtures expected to be played behind closed doors.

With the league resuming in June, the British Police has requested that at least six Premier League matches including Liverpool’s title clincher be played at neutral venues in a bid to prevent large clusters of supporters outside the stadiums.

In a statement, National Football Policing Deputy Chief Constable, Mark Roberts, said: “Our discussions with the Premier League throughout this process have been positive, with a shared focus on the priority of public health.”

“The views and agreement of forces which host Premier League clubs have been sought and where there were concerns, the Premier League has been supportive in providing flexibility in arranging alternative venues where requested.”

“This plan will be kept continually under review to ensure public health and safety, and a key part of this is for supporters to continue to respect the social distancing guidelines, and not to attend or gather outside the stadiums.”

“The majority of the remaining matches will be played at home and away just as scheduled before, with few fixtures taking place at neutral venues. Although contrary to some reports, some teams are yet to agree,” he added.

The Merseyside derby falls among the list of matches revealed by the police, as well as Liverpool’s away games at Manchester City and Newcastle United.

The Red Devils who are 25points clear at the top of the table require just two more victories to be crowned champions.
