Liverpool players took a knee around the center circle at Anfield on Monday to show support for the Black Lives Matter Movement.
Senior Liverpool players including Virgil van Dijk, James Milner, Joe Gomez, Andrew Robertson, and Trent Alexander-Arnold shared photographs on Twitter of the squad showing support for the movement with the caption “Unity is Strength”.

The tweets which included the #blacklivesmatter hashtag were the latest messages of support from sportsmen across the world amid the civil unrest in the United States after a black man named George Floyd was killed by police officers.
George Floyd died while in the custody of police officers in Minnesota last week, sparking significant protests and rioting across many US cities.
Last weekend, Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho after scoring his first goal revealed a t-shirt with the message “Justice for George Floyd”.

In the game before Dortmund’s match, Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram earlier went down on one knee after scoring against Union Berlin.
Thuram’s gesture has become a significant act of protest against racism in the US in recent times after San Francesco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick knelt when the national anthem was recited ahead of a pre-season game in 2016.
On Monday, Manchester United’s forward, Marcus Rashford tweeted that: “We appear to be more divided than ever. People are hurting and we need answers. Black lives matter. Black culture matters. Black communities matter. We matter.”
The English Professional Footballers Association (PFA) said in a statement that read: “We want America to know that the world is watching. The action taken to ensure Justice for George Floyd at this moment sends a clear message about the perceived value of black lives in America.”
