The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai has announced his readiness to tackle the insecurity crisis in the Southern part of the state, before he leaves office in 2023.

Recall that the region has suffered several attacks on rural communities with many lives lost over the years. However, Governor El-Rufai disclosed during an interview on Channels TV on Monday, September 21, 2020, that he is determined to put an end to the crisis, even though he had been criticised in certain quarters for supporting the attackers and through his allegedly soft handling of the crisis.

Moreover, El-Rufai further pointed out that the legacy he is most interested in leaving behind is dealing with the issue in the state. He also added that his government inherited a legacy of ethno-religious intolerance when he was first elected governor in 2015.

The governor also noted that the justice system has been too slow in taking legal action to the offenders, and that deterrence must be fixed. He further stressed that the disaster has reached a tipping point, adding that his administration is doing its best to tackle it.
