Lupita Nyong’o Bags A Nomination For Glamorous Emmy Award

Lupita Amondi Nyong’o ’37 Kenyan-Mexican received a nomination in the 72nd Prime Time Emmy Awards for the Outstanding narrator category.

The Hollywood actress and author is nominated for the narration of the TV show Serengeti. The nominations were announced on Tuesday, 28th of July.

The star took to social media to celebrate this huge achievement while acknowledging her fellow nominees…

“My fellow nominees in the Outstanding narrator category, @Im.Angela Bassett, Chiwetel Ejiofor, @kareemAbdulJabbar_33 and David Attenborough, are an incredible company to keep. Sending my gratitude to the whole team at @Discovery. #Emmys,” Lupita wrote.

This is her first-ever nomination in the category also making it her the third black woman to be nominated in the same class.

The event is set to take place on Sunday, September the 20th, they will be hosted by TV host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel.

Lupita whose carrier progressed after her role of Nakia in the Marvel’s Black Panther (2018) recently scooped two awards at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

One was for the Best actress on her role in the horror film Jordan Peele and the other one was Outstanding Literary Work children for her book Sulwe. She posted on social media as she couldn’t attend the awards ceremony.

Lupita was also named the most beautiful woman by ‘People’ in 2014 and was under Africa’s “50 most powerful women” by Forbes in 2020.
